Abundance Blessing

$400.00

I made this photograph at Kam Wah Chung, a historic Chinese apothecary in eastern Oregon. Chinese medicine doctor (Ing “Doc” Hay) opened KWC in 1888 and served the gold-mining community there for about 50 years. Sometime after his death, it was shuttered and largely forgotten about. When surveyors opened the doors in 1967, they found a remarkable time capsule of herbal medicines. The red paper in the center is a traditional blessing welcoming abundance. It’s pasted on a door, as is customary in China. Each print is unique, with fingerprints added in gold pigment. Click image to enlarge.

DETAILS

This is a 7x7” fine-art print with hand-painted gold details and a 1/2” border. It’s printed on Hahnemuhle’s stunning FineArt Baryta paper, a heavyweight, textured glossy paper that absolutely glows. Gold details are lightfast pigments (acrylic) with beautiful intensity and shine. Because of the hand-painted details, each print is one of a kind and will vary slightly. Signed on verso.
